| Raquel 2013 Playmate of the Year |
As you might well know, I put Raquel at a lowly #9 on my year-end rankings last year. I obviously caught some heat for this, and I considered her strong fan base when I put together my ranking and rating for Miss April. Many commented that there was little chance that eight other ladies were better in 2012 than Miss Pomplun.
Although I'm always a bit apprehensive about changing my ratings in retrospect, if I were to evaluate her again, I'd probably put Raquel a bit higher than I did, especially since viewing some more of her glamor material. Raquel does have some nice size and is bold and graceful in front of the camera, and she does seem to be a decently deserving PMOY.
You all know my opinion about Miss Pomplun. I definitely preferred Shelby Chesnes, and was almost sure she would win after popular support for her mounted. However, as with Jaclyn Swedberg's PMOY win the year before, I would say that Raquel deserves this. She might not be PMOY material in any year, but given 2012's inconsistency and lack of true star power (same as with 2011's wobbly class), I'd have to agree with fans here.
As always, it's a travesty to see PMOY's given less and less of a chance to showcase their talents in encore performances each season. 2013 is by far the most shockingly meager of them all, with a pathetic six-photo set that looks dismally overproduced. Photo number 4 (posted above) is the one out of the lot that would really force my hand in changing my PMOY vote, but not quite.
Still, a hearty congrats to Raquel!

Glad to see her as PMOY, she is amazing! She reminds me Jodi Ann Paterson. I read somewhere there will be more photos from her PMOY' pictorial comming soon. And it's gonna be Audrey for 2014 PMOY!!!

I think there are a few reasons why Shelby did not win PMOY - her height or lack of it rather and her being a little shy in public are two of those. I was not the least bit surprised by their selection.
As for PMOY 2014 I will tip Alyssa Arce for the time being. She seems to be ethereally beautiful - a lovely face and smile complemented by a great body. Kristen Nicole has the best profile video of all but is perhaps not as great in pictures.
Good review....another horribly sloppy pictorial...how sad....how can Hefner actually like the pictures they shoot now? So vastly different from Playboy's "Golden Era" (1997-2001).Raquel is beautiful but she deserved better than this. I dont agree, however, that 2012 lacked star power. 2011 might have, but 2012 had Alana, Amelia, Shelby, Beth and of course Raquel - very popular little starlets in their own right... I cant even remember the playmates of 2011...Wish Steve Wayda could have shot the pictorial in the exotic locations they used to shoot in before (Jalisco, Mexico; Crete,Greece; Auckland, New Zealand etc..) Well anyways - cheers to Raquel! And as for next year, I will be floored if Alyssa doesnt win, especially since she actually claims her Latin American heritage *hint hint*. There's always a little politics involved in picking PMOY. Alyssa is nice girl, I met her as friend of the family when I was really little - she always had the girl next door vibe. She would be great PMOY....
